My Support for Women's Rights

1.  I support the Declaration on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women and I would support its ratification in the United States, one of the few countries in the world where it has not been ratified.
2.  I support the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay law which makes companies compensate women fairly.
3.  I volunteered in the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton and I have supported other female candidates for public office.
4.  I will not insult the Girl Scouts or rape victims the way some Republicans have.
5.  I will not try to make contraception illegal.  I support reproductive rights for women.  I may be the only pro-choice candidate in the race, but I support the right of those who want to be pro-life as long as they support the rights of those who want to be pro-choice.  I believe that a person can only be pro-life if and only if they oppose all abortions all of the time without exceptions.  I do not consider Mitt Romney and many other Republicans to be pro-life because they will not take this stand.

Promoting Urban Development

Many candidates have ideas for promoting urban development, but I have been actively involved in trying to help rebuild my community rather than just merely talking about it. I have worked with an organization which rehabs old houses for resale. We buy houses, fix them up, and put them back on the market again. With many houses, this can be done profitably. At this time, we have worked on several houses in our neighborhood, but we only have the resources to work on one at a time. As a congressman, I would like to start a program like this which could be involved in fixing up hundreds of old houses in our community and potentially employ hundreds of people involved in helping to fix them up. This would lead to more urban renewal, lower unemployment, and more people owning their own homes. I have worked with people who were involved with Habitat for Humanity, Trickle Up, and organizations with similar goals. With your support, we can make it happen.

Some good reasons not to vote for the Republicans

1. They often like to brag about how conservative they are. But remember, some of the worst presidents we ever had were conservatives. Bush 1, Bush 2, Nixon, Hoover, Harding, Taft, all failures.
2. They support another plan to reduce taxes for the wealthy and to increase our national deficit and another plan to steal money from the government in order to bribe the those voters.
3. They are anti-union, anti-working class, anti-minority, anti-women, anti-foreigner, and anti-anyone who disagrees with them on any issue. They are almost like a hate group.
4. Under President George W. Bush, they did everything possible to try to bankrupt this country and destroy the future of your children.
5. They have totally failed to help the anti-abortion movement achieve their goals.
6. They support the gun nuts and the reactionaries. They're so far right, they're so far wrong!
7. They really only care about serving the interests of rich people like Mitt Romney who exploit others. They will never care about people like you.
There's an easy way to end the gridlock in Congress - just elect all Democrats! And throw out the do-nothing Republicans in Congress! I welcome your support. http://davidsowardscongress.blogspot.com/
